Frequently Asked Questions

Material

What kind of floor is this?

Canopy Floors are an LVP that’s incredibly comfortable, waterproof, easy to install and easy to live on.

“Wow, that floor is thick!”

You got that right! Canopy Floors range from 8mm-15mm in thickness (that’s about a quarter to a half inch for the non-metric-system-types). We think of floor thickness like the thickness of a sock. More “mm’s” for more “ahh’s” with additional wear layer protection and cushion in every step.

You cork your floors?

Like a fine wine we do! We attach a cork pad to the backside of every plank for floor cushioning and noise dampening that simulate the feel of real wood. Your floors have never sounded better.

Whoa, Canopy Floors…float?

In a sense, yes! Canopy Floors install with a click and require no glues or toxic adhesives for majority of installations*. They just float above your underlayment like a well draped canopy. That means less smells, less chemicals, and a safer softer, more natural feel.

*Glue may be required according to unique installation situations. See installation guide details for further information.

Is your LVP phthalate-free? What do you use as a plasticizer?

We can confirm that our LVP does not contain phthalates. Instead we use terephthalic acid, a plasticizer commonly found in food-safe plastics, such as plastic bottles. We take material health very seriously, not just for our customers, but for their families as well. All of our products are Greenguard Gold Certified, ensuring they meet strict standards for low VOCs and safe indoor air quality.

Installation

How does it install?

These planks are designed to float right over most existing hard floors! Just click them together by angling the tongue into the groove, then give the side a little tap to snug them into place. It’s as easy as that!

Do these floors need time to acclimate before installing?

Nope! They are ready to install in an instant upon arrival. No acclimation required.

Do length & width matter?

It’s all about style. Generally, longer boards make for a faster installation but can be more challenging due to their size for handling, but they give you a bit more flexibility to cut and fit into quirky corners and spaces. Smaller boards are much easier to handle and give a more traditional look. Many consider wider boards to have more of a “luxury” look, but honestly, you do you.

What’s WPC and SPC?

These industry terms refer to the core of LVP flooring—WPC (wood plastic composite) and SPC (stone polymer composite). Both are super strong and resistant to dents, water, and scratches. WPC is ‘foamed’ during production, creating air pockets that make it more comfy and quieter underfoot than the denser SPC. Fun fact: we were founded by the inventors of WPC!

So what’s the difference in WPC and SPC?

WPC has a wood-like feel and sound, plus it’s thicker for added comfort. On the other hand, SPC is denser and more tile-like—louder and thinner, but super durable. If you’re on your feet in the kitchen for long days, WPC will really enhance your comfort!

How many unique planks are there?

It depends on a product by product basis, but generally, the Comfort collection has 5-6 unique planks, for Comfort Enhanced 4 unique planks (due to large size), for Comfort Premium 8 unique planks!

Floor Care

How do I care for my Canopy Floors?

Keeping your floors in tip-top shape is a breeze! Just sweep regularly to keep debris at bay, since grit and dirt can wear down that protective layer over time. For a deeper clean, grab a mop and use a pH-neutral cleaner. And whatever you do, steer clear of steam mops—they can seriously damage your LVP floors!

Can I mop my floors?

Yes! But caution! Steer clear of steam mops—they can seriously damage your LVP floors! Use a pH-neutral cleaner when mopping.

Are Canopy Floors waterproof?

Yes! These floors are 100% waterproof and ready for all the spills and thrills life throws at them.

Will this floor handle kids and/or pets?

Absolutely! These floors are all about low maintenance and high durability. With a thick wear layer ranging from 20mil and 30mil, they come with a 10-year warranty for light commercial use. So, you know they’re built to last! They’re designed to stand the test of time in your home—so go ahead, enjoy life on them!
